Newsletter's 2019

Welcome to the Spring 2019 edition of the BMAPS Newsletter.

The Chairman's Comments - Mick White

My thanks go out to all the Members of the Committee plus Trish and the Community Payback boys/girls for all their hard work over the past year. We received approval to open Shadwell a month early on the 1st February 2019 instead of 1st March 2019. This gave us an extra 4 weeks fishing to replace the 6 weeks lost when the lake was closed by the EA/CEFAS due to the KHV carp deaths. It will revert to 28th February in 2020. A small increase in Membership fees was agreed at the 2019 AGM and is shown on the enclosed forms.

I have decided it is time to step down from my position as Chairman after 18 years. My thanks go to everyone I have work alongside at Committee and Membership level. I wish the Club all the best for the future.

Membership Secretary - Christine White

Enclosed with the Newsletter is your BMAPS Membership renewal/application form for completion. Instructions for completion are contained on the forms. Please ensure return of your forms and remittance by 31st May or there maybe a delay in issuing your Membership card. The new combination lock numbers for 2019/20 is printed on your Membership card as in previous years. Membership card and EA Licence must be carried with you at all times whilst on club waters or you will be asked to leave the venue.

Guest Day Tickets at Shadwell - Christine White/Bob Glover

Guest day tickets are available with a maximum of two guests per Member. Day ticket prices are £6 for Juniors, OAP and Disabled and all others £10 per day (evenings after 4pm are £3 and £5 respectively). Once booked the Member is liable for payment of the Day Ticket cost. Contact the Membership Secretary or Secretary giving 24hrs notice so a Bailiff can be arranged to collect the fee and issue a ticket on the Lake. Guests must have a valid EA License.

Non-Angling Visitors at Shadwell - Christine White

Non-angling visitors are covered by our insurance on a £5 annual permit which is available to Members over 16 years of age. The permit issued to a Member is transferable between their visitors (one person per session). Apply for your permit on the Membership renewal forms.

Shadwell Car Park / Gate Keys - Christine White

The car park within the Barn Elms Sports Centre is free to use for BMAPS Members. They must clearly display the new car permit in their vehicle - Seniors Yellow Permit, OAP Red Permit & Disabled Blue Permit. These will be issued with Membership cards. Those using the car park early morning or late evenings will need a key for the Sports Centre Gate which are available at £5. Note that only OAP/Disabled Members are allowed to park alongside the swims on the sports field or in the Main entrance. Ensure you close and lock the Gate after use.

Thames Young Mariners (TYM) - Bob Glover

There are night and a limited number of day fishing opportunities at this venue. There are very strict access rules plus a cap on the number of anglers allowed on this water. Members wishing to fish this venue should contact the Secretary for the dates, tides, booking information and vehicle permits. Work on repairing the swims will take place during Spring/Summer.

Head Bailiffs Comments - Trevor Kelly

It has come to our attention that someone is using barbed/micro-barbed hooks. Anyone caught using these will be expelled from the club. Please make sure you have an unhooking mat and a 24" (minimum) landing net.
